The “most wonderful time of the year” starts with Your ASO! Join us back at Altoona Area High School with Guest Conductor, Maestra Rebekah O’Brien, for what has become a beloved community tradition.

During this Women’s History Month, we are thrilled to be celebrating the many accomplishments of women composers and performers, including Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, our own Cathy Herrera, and even Olivia Rodrigo! Local pianist, Maeve Wonderly, will perform Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto. This powerful evening of music is not to be missed.
Sonic Pictures is sure to be an electrifying musical experience, with John Adams’ setting the tone with his exhilarating Short Ride in a Fast Machine! Vibrant paintings come to life through the dynamic orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition followed by a powerful performance of Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, narrated by Carolyn Donaldson. This concert will also feature Lee Hinkle (pictured) playing the Kevin Puts Marimba Concerto. A pre-concert lecture with Timothy Melbinger will be held from 6:30-7:00PM in the theatre.
We close out Season 96 with a celestial celebration, highlighting the music from Star Wars paired with the incredible classical music that influenced some of the most beloved melodies from the franchise. From the Mandalorian and Boba Fett to the Imperial March – there’s something for Star Wars fans of all ages!

Your ASO celebrates opening night of Season 96 with a pair of romantic masterpieces! Brahms Symphony No. 1 is compelling, dramatic, and ultimately triumphant with its profound emotional depth, reflective of the composer’s mastery of symphonic form.
The virtuosity of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, played by concertmaster Genaro Medina, will surely be a soaring, energetic way to begin the season! We are also thrilled to feature a World Premiere of Arnold Rosner’s Scherzo for Orchestra. You won’t want to miss this Opening Night to remember!
Celebrate Spooky Season with your ASO! Back by popular demand, this concert will feature many of the hauntingly beautiful classics you know and love, such as excerpts from Symphonie Fantastique and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice along with music from movie and television Halloween Hits (the scary and not-so-scary!).
